Map Themes:
The adapted map layout for LoMaps (standard maps of LocusMap) is based on the Adventure v4 Theme developed by Mike Byington. Mike was so kind to give me permission to publich the adapted layout. The Freizeitkarte theme is based on the Freizeitkarte outdoor contrast layout for which the Freizeit karte team was so kind to share me the metadata which made the changes a lot easier.
You can download the layouts by the links below. Links for automatic installation work from an Android Device with Locusmap installed (please have the app open while installing). Obviously you need to have the proper maps downloaded from either Locusmap or the Freizeitkarte website.
Another map and theme suggestion (no adapted theme available) are the OpenAndroMaps. I think these are the maps used by DMD. The recommended map-layout for this is Elevate.
To give an indication on the difference it makes, there are a couple of screenshots included for the adapted Adventure v4 theme with LoMaps.Â

This makes a big difference, especially when you are navigating on the bike (and zooming in more). The changes are:
Black/grey and yellow for OSM type 1-5 offroad roads (can be legal, but also non legal to drive)
Some green coloring for ungraded tracks (where OSM does not have a classification. Can be good to drive, but might be legal and might not be legal)
Some purple color for paths, typically used for walking/hiking or mountainbike. Mostly not legal to drive (and can be dangerous in the mountains for a big adventure bike).
For manual installation, you need to copy the *.zip file (can keep zipped, but also can be unzipped) (probably from the Downloads folder) to the .../Locus/mapsVector/_themes folder of your Android device. The exact location depends on your Android version. A nice app to do this is "FileManager+").
By using the automatic installation, this is automated. However, I would recommend to have Locusmap open on your Android device when opening the link in your browser.
Obviously, you need to download the right maps for using:
LoMaps from the Locusmap manager in the App
Freizeitkarte from the Freizeitkarte site (installation automated if you open it from your Android Device).
For using a theme, you need to select the map in the map manager and select the proper map layout (Menu: All Features, Map Tools, Map Themes). Obviously, creating a button on the map-screen works better, both for selecting maps and the map layout.
In the map theme, you need to select the subtheme Rally by FT. See the latter in the screenshot below:
I did some playing to give non legal tracks (according to the OSM classification) a different coloring. However, the roads in NL (and a lot of other places) are not classified in that way. So based on the map you cannot see if a road is legal.
